Reviews:
“Drummer Louie Bellson plays a smaller role on this set than on his usual dates, only contributing one original ("I See You") and taking but a single (and brief) solo. However, his band -- comprised of the great tenor Don Menza, trumpeter Sam Noto, pianist Frank Collett, bassist John Heard and Walfredo De Los Reyes on congas -- is particularly strong, and the repertoire is well-rounded. A three-song ballad medley, "Caravan" (which has Bellson's solo), and Collett's "Fat's Blues" are among the highlights of the superior straight-ahead set.” AllMusic Review by Scott Yanow
