Review:
The label "Nimbus West" is known for its releases of quiet talents from the underground jazz scene of Los Angeles. Recorded in July 1987 in sunny Santa Barbara, the sextet "The Nimbus Collective" has succeeded in creating an impressive album with "Live in Lotusland"; the interplay is spirited, original and simply a joy to listen to. All excellent, serious musicians, it is time to give them the deserved attention, of which they got too little in their time in trendy L.A. next to the big stars. "Live in Lotusland" offers over 100 minutes of atmospheric jazz on 3 LPs, peppered with great solos.
