Reviews
:

« Other than a commercial CTI date, this LP was Lalo Schifrin's first jazz recording as a leader since the early 1970s. Famous as a film and television composer, Schifrin had a rare opportunity to stretch out on piano, leading a quintet also consisting of bassist Andy Simpkins, drummer Earl Palmer, flutist Sam Most and percussionist Paulinho Da Costa. Schifrin mostly performs originals on the out-of-print date, plus two Dizzy Gillespie tunes ("Con Alma" and "Manteca"); other than "Manteca," the emphasis is on easy-listening jazz. Nice music but not overly memorable. » AllMusic review by Scott Yanow
