Reviews:

“Columbia Special Markets' Whole Lotta Shakin' boasts a generous selection of 16 tracks, but all the big hits are re-recordings of Carl Perkins' classic Sun material. Not that these are bad re-recordings, they're just not what you may be expecting. The reamainder of the album consists of Perkins trying to find his footing at Columbia, sometimes successfully, sometimes not. For casual fans who are this disc's target audience, such floundering may be a little frustrating, but it's interesting to hear. However, the dedicated fan who will truly enjoy this record isn't likely to want this music on a budget-line disc -- they'll want a full-fledged collection, which makes the usefulness of this particular compilation a little puzzling.” AllMusic Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine
