Reviews:
« This Japanese 12-song album was more or less equivalent to the album known as Happy Jack in America and A Quick One in the U.K. The main difference was the absence of the mini-opera/U.K. title track, replaced here by a pair of single/EP tracks, "Disguises" and "In the City," plus the hit "I'm a Boy." In that regard, it's a less advanced version of the proper album, though it is a great deal of fun (and most of the Who's records in those days were lots of fun) and has a cool-looking cover. It's not essential, by any means, unless you're one of those (of whom there are many) who regard any combination or permutation of the Who's early records to be worthwhile. And it did rate highly enough in Japan to merit a mini-LP-style audiophile-quality CD reissue, paired with the slightly later compilation Exciting, in late 2006, some 40 years after its original appearance. » AllMusic Review by Bruce Eder
